Asphalt Seal Coating
Sealcoating is one of the most important aspects of effective pavement maintenance. Sealcoating material is typically applied in 2 coats and is used to protect asphalt pavement surfaces from damage caused by gasoline, oil drippings, salt, water and ultraviolet rays.

Striping and Traffic Marking: Parking Lot striping and traffic marking or is an essential component of a paving or sealcoating project. APSC will layout and stripe new and existing parking lots to conform to existing plans or will re-configure the striping to meet municipal code and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) handicap requirements. D.O.T. approved traffic paint or thermoplastic paint is applied as demanded by the various municipalities in Lee county.

| PRODUCTS WE USE |
| ASPHALT |
The asphalt used by American Pride is made of aggrigate rock, petroleum, tar and tack. The asphalt is a type S-3 Top Asphalt used for commerical parking lots. Asphalt used for public roads is made differently and not to be used on parking lots. When applied the asphalt is approximately 350 degrees Farenheit. Application, a compact roller or a plate compactor is used to pack down for smooth surface. |
| SEALCOATING |
| GEMSEAL Coal Tar Sealer - This sealer is a petroleum base sealer also made from Coal. This sealer is always recommended for the southern part of the United States due to the sun and extreme heat generated annually. Sealer Application: American Pride only uses a HAND APPLICATION PROCESS, sealer is applied in a liquid form directly onto the asphalt and hand broomed for a smooth nice finish. Two coat process always. |
| MIXTURE BREAKDOWN FOR SEALER |
| 30 % water is added to the bulk sealer in the winter time and 40 % in the summer, this is needed in order to spread the sealer where it is workable. In addition, 3 pounds of silica sand is added to every gallon of sealer for durability and longevity. Also added is a admixture called Tarmax R-100. This additive is always recommended to be added to all GEMSEAL Sealer. It creates a strong bond once it dries for a long lasting durability and visual affect. |
| LINE STRIPING |
| The type of paint used for line striping is a industrial grade paint that is specially formulated for high traffic, heat and exposure to the sun. It is a latex based paint. The paint is sprayed on utilizing a airless spraying machine. Colors are Yellow, White and Blue. |
| CEMENT CURB CAR STOPS |
| These are the Cement objects that are at the front of a parking space where the vehicle pulls in and the front tires comes to rest as a stop point. Not all business parking lots have them but are highly common. These car stops can be painted or left as the natural cement color, whatever the customer desires. |
| HANDICAP SIGNS AND MARKINGS |
| In the state of Florida, Handicap signs are required in front of every Handicap parking space. The sign must read: Handicap Parking Only $250 fine. The sign must be seven feet high from the ground to the bottom of the sign above. There must be a wheel chair symbol marking in the center of the space and a wheel chair exit point with a line cage five feet wide and the length of the parking space which is nine feet wide by 18 feet long. One handicap parking space per every 21 regular parking spaces. |
| GENERAL STENCILING AND MARKINGS |
| Any stenciling is at the discretion of the property owner such as, direction arrows, no parking, private, reserved, guest, pedestrian walk way ect. Firelane stencial are required at businesses normally directly in from of the business in the parking area. This is a County Code verification issue. |
| AS A REMINDER |
| Any paving or sealcoating products bought at local home improvement stores are directed for residential use not commercial. Sealer, Asphalt and Paint are a lower grade quality and not recommended to be used in parking lots or commercial areas. |
